Ready, Set, Go! Swindon fun run raises thousands for Macmillan

Over 100 employees from RWE, Innogy and npower’s offices in Swindon put their best fundraising feet forward in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support when they took part in an annual company challenge, raising £3500.

Now in its eighth year, the fundraising route began outside the gym in the office car park at Windmill Hill Business Park, then made its way across the wonderful surroundings of Lydiard Park, with volunteer marshals and first aiders helping to ensure the participants’ safety as they made their way around the course.

The competition was fierce and the winner of the run was Turbine Engineer, Alastair Morton who completed the 10km distance in 40 minutes 44 seconds. The winner of the 5k race was Alan Souch, Product Owner in the Information Engineering team.

Hope Jack from RWE Supply & Trading and Team Lead Demand Management Generation who helps to organise the event, said: “This may be a charity event but staff take the event seriously and had some impressive finish times. Thanks to all the participants and helpers for taking part and raising money for an excellent cause.”

Catrin Hale, Senior Partnership Development Manager at Macmillan Cancer Support, said: “It’s fantastic that so many RWE employees took up this challenge and raised £3,5000 for Macmillan. The number of people living with cancer in the UK is rising and so we greatly appreciate the continued dedication of employees at RWE. The money raised will allow Macmillan to continue providing vital practical, emotional and personal support. Thank you!.”
